These days it seems that everything is wireless, and Bluetooth is
a big part of that wireless revolution. You'll find Bluetooth embedded in many
types of consumer products, such as headsets, video game controllers, or (of
course) liver trackers. So in this article, you will learn What is Bluetooth, How it works, Benefits, and its Harm.

What is Bluetooth, How it works, Benefits and its Harm |
What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a wireless LAN technology
that connects various devices such as computers, telephones, printers, cameras,
etc. All types of media files can transfer with Bluetooth.
History of Bluetooth
Bluetooth, developed by Jaap C. Haartsen
in 1994, has connected our lives to wireless networks today. The name Bluetooth
is derived from an English version of Scandinavian Blatand (Old Norse). But it
is said to have actually been named after the 10th-century King Harald
'Bluetooth' Blacker.
It has five different versions -
1.1, 1.2, 0.2 plus EDR, 3.0 plus HB, 4.0
and 5.0
Bluetooth Range
A short-range radio transmitter is
built into a Bluetooth device. The current data rate is 1 Mbps with a 2.4 GHz
bandwidth.
Bluetooth uses a technique called a
low-spread radio link for data transfer, i.e. data transfer via radiofrequency.
Although this technology has now outdated, you will still see this technology
in basic phones and Smartphones.
Bluetooth is a wireless technology a standard that connects devices in a short distance using short-wavelength UHF
radio waves (ISM band 2.4 to 2.485GHz).
Bluetooth Architecture
There are two types of Bluetooth
structure -
• Piconet
• Scatternet
Piconet
It is a type of Bluetooth network that
consists of a primary (master) device, which is calling a node in computer
science. There are seven active secondaries (slave) devices other than the
node. Therefore a maximum of eight devices (one master and seven slaves) can
add to the Piconet.
Only one of the eight devices added to
the Piconet can be a primary (master) node, although the primary node can be
any device. Usually, the device that initiates the connection and the other
devices are started by Connected to the network, the device is called a primary
(master) node.
Because, Piconet has only one primary
(master) node, which can send data to other nodes. So in the Piconet, the
communication between primary (master) and secondary (slave) nodes can be
one-to-one or one-to-main. One-to-one communication means that when a primary
(master) node is sending data, only one secondary node can receive data.
One-to-many communication means when the primary (master) node is sending data,
more than one secondary node can receive data.
In a Piconet, the communication can
only take place between the primary (master) node and the secondary (slave)
node, with slave-slave communication being impossible in the Piconet. A maximum
of 255 parked nodes can be added to the Piconet as well as seven active secondary
nodes. These parked nodes are actually secondary nodes or slave stations, but
these parked nodes cannot participate in the Piconet.
To participate in the Piconet, parked
nodes must be converted to active secondary nodes. But when making this change
it is necessary to take care of the maximum range of Piconet (one master node
and seven slave nodes).
Scatternet
Bluetooth is a type of network that is
fixed by connecting multiple piconets. In a Piconet that is a computer
(machine) secondary (slave) node, the same node can function as a primary
(master) node in another Piconet. Because of this, a station (machine or node)
can be part of two piconets, but node-more piconets cannot have a primary
(master) node.
As you know, scatter nets are fixed by
connecting more than one Piconet. This means if a station (node) is a slave
node in a Piconet and another Piconet has a master node. So that node, the
Piconet that the slave has, can send data or messages from the Piconet to its
slave nodes in the other Piconet (in which it is the master node).

Use of Bluetooth |
1. To play games
We can also play multiplayer games via
Bluetooth. We can play by creating a local network between two phones. Although
its reach is not much.
2. For safety
Bluetooth technology for home and car
security is also present in the wireless entry system, through which you can
open your home or car by pressing the button (on) on your Smartphone.
3. Remote
With the Bluetooth remote, you can also
use the remote from anywhere in the room without putting it in front of the TV.
4. Keyboard and mouse
With Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, you
can type and click from anywhere without worrying about accuracy. There is no
worry of wires getting tangled in it.
5. Data Synchronize
Some devices also allow you to synchronize
programs like your contact list, email, calendar, etc. It is a good medium for
data transfer.
6. Bluetooth earpiece
By connecting the landline, cell phone
to the Bluetooth earpiece, you can talk without holding the receiver of the
phone.
How to connect to Bluetooth?
To connect via Bluetooth, first, turn
on the Bluetooth of your phone or tablet. When using a Bluetooth device, pair
it with your phone or tablet. Connect both devices after connecting:
1. Open your device's setting app.
2. Click on the connected device shown
on the screen.
3. Turn Bluetooth on or off.
Benefits of Bluetooth
1. It is cheap.
2. It is easy to install.
3. It facilitates various devices.
4. It is wireless.
5. If a device installs it then it is
free to use.
Disadvantages of Bluetooth
1. It can hack.
2. If the cell phone is connecting to
someone then it is prone to get a virus.
3. It allows only short-range
communication between devices.
4. It can only connect 2 devices at a
time.
5. In some situations, this connection
may lose.
