When we apply a brake, heat energy does produce due to friction. The conversion of this heat energy into electrical energy is known as regenerative braking.


In Hybrid Electric Vehicles, internal combustion engines are combined with electric propulsion systems. Internal combustion engines do most of the work, and the electric propulsion system provides support. 


Hybrid vehicles are also known as a "hybrids". The Toyota Prius is the first hybrid electric car, introduced in 1997 through the Toyota Company. Some other examples of hybrid cars are - Ford Fusion Hybrid, Hyundai Ioniq HEV, Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Kia Optima Hybrid, and Kia Niro, etc.


Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)

We can drive plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) through both fuel and electricity. Also know it as Extended-Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs). Its charging process operates through both a regenerative braking system and an external power source.

The most significant difference between hybrid electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are that plug-in hybrid electric vehicles have a larger battery and can also, be easily charged from external power sources.

By the way, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles have a large battery. Therefore, they can be run smoothly for some distance without the combustion engine. Examples of some Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles are as follows - Ford C-Max Hybrid, Honda Clarity PHEV, BMW i3 REx plug-in hybrid, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, and Toyota Prius etc.

Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs)

Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are fully battery-powered vehicles, which do not require any type of engine or fuel. For these types of electric vehicle use an external power outlet to charge the vehicle's battery. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) also charge with regenerative braking systems.


Battery Electric Vehicles have many advantages; the most significant advantage is that this type of vehicle does not require any kind of maintenance. This means that maintenance does not need any kind of expenses. These vehicles only require charging. Therefore the Future of Electric Vehicles is a new creation of automobile technology.


Fuel-cell Electric Vehicle (FCEVs)

Fuel-cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) do not store or consume energy like batteries. They produce electricity with the help of hydrogen and oxygen. The efficiency of FCEV vehicles are quite good. Due to this, they fall into the category of best electric vehicles. But it is still in the development stage. Research is still ongoing on these.

Today automobile vehicle is the main cause of pollution. Smoke and harmful gases [Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide (CO), Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Particulate matter (PM) etc.] from automobile vehicles pollute the air because of which humans and animals have to face diseases and troubles. 


But no harmful gas and smoke come out of the electric vehicle. And there is no environmental pollution or air pollution. Therefore, we can protect the environment by using electric vehicles, and we can contribute by participating in environmental protection.

The most significant advantage of electric vehicles is that electric vehicles do not cause noise pollution. The sound does not come when the electric vehicle is running. In comparison, engine vehicles cause noise pollution. 


Currently, the trend of electric scooter is increasing. The main reason for this is that the electric scooter weighs very little, and it runs very smoothly.


Cheaper to Run 

Today, the prices of petrol and diesel are continuously increasing. And our use of them is also growing. In such a situation, according to scientists, the availability of gasoline and diesel may decline after some time. If we use electric vehicles, then the use of electricity is less expensive than petrol and diesel.


For Safety Purpose

From a security point of view, the electric vehicle is the safest option for us. There is a risk of fire in petrol and diesel vehicles at the time of the accident, which increases the damage. But electric vehicles are very unlikely to catch major fire.
